Botulinum Toxin

What is botulinum toxin?

Botulinum toxin is a powerful neurotoxic protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.

It is used to temporarily relax muscles. While it’s best known for smoothing wrinkles, it also has medical applications for treating migraines, muscle spasms, and excessive sweating.

Cosmetically, it works by blocking nerve signals to targeted facial muscles, preventing them from contracting. This softens expression lines like crow’s feet and frown lines, giving a more youthful appearance. The effects typically last 3 to 6 months, with gradual fading over time.

When performed by a professional, botulinum toxin is safe and effective treatment option.
